How to Quickly Test Your Car's Battery

How to Quickly Test Your Car's Battery

There is nothing worse than a dead car battery. It's frustrating and very inconvenient. But, you can quickly conduct a battery test right from home!

A battery test is conducted by using a voltmeter, which measures the battery's state of charge at any given moment. A digital voltmeter will give you a more accurate reading than an analog voltmeter, as well as being easier to use. To test your battery, you should make sure that the ignition is in the off position and the car lights are off. Proceed by connecting the red cable to the positive battery terminal and the black cable to the negative battery terminal. Once connected, simply compare the voltmeter's state of charge to the chart provided with the tool. A reading of less than 12.4 percent is considered in the danger zone.

If you're in need of having your car battery replaced, be sure to contact South Trail Kia's service center in Calgary.
