When many people think of a compact sedan, they think of a small space dominated by cloth seats and hard plastics. They think of cars driven by new drivers--ancient and slow and with electronics that only work half the time.
However, the days of underwhelming compact sedans is long gone. Today's compact sedans feature not only more space but more luxury in the interior. Technology is moving up and outdated ideas are moving out. Two examples of great compact sedan interiors are the 2021 Kia Forte and 2021 Nissan Sentra.
Drivers looking for an upscale minimalist interior do not have to look any further than the 2021 Kia Forte in Calgary. This impressive interior includes all the features that drivers need without the clutter and unnecessary duplicate controls found on many models.
The dashboard design is simplistic, with the driver seeing all necessary vehicle information on the gauges right in front of them. The centre of each dashboard features an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system that does not impede upon the view through the windshield, which occurs in some other compact sedans.
The steering wheel offers controls for the infotainment system, cruise control, and more, and all materials are upscale and high quality. Two adults fit comfortably in the spacious backseat, even on length road trips, and the trunk space is one of the largest in the class at 434 litres.
The luxurious styling of the 2021 Kia Forte is only improved by its generous features list, and drivers in Calgary and throughout Canada will continually find things they like about the Forte's interior.
The interior of the 2021 Nissan Sentra is not all that different from the 2021 Kia Forte. It is also one of the nicer designs in the segment with a dashboard that features a simple set of analog gauges around a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system. A unique feature of the dashboard is a trio of circular air vents that differentiate the Sentra's dashboard from others in the class.
Nissan mixes soft and hard plastics in the Sentra, hoping that the soft-touch materials help to mask the hard plastics, but that is not always the case. The Zero Gravity front seats are spacious, pliant, and supportive, but the available quilted leather upholstery on higher trim levels is at odds with the otherwise sporty design found throughout the interior.
The Sentra offers enough interior passenger volume to comfortably sit four adults in the cabin, but the trunk space is lacking compared to others in its class. The cargo capacity tops out at 405 litres.
Both the 2021 Kia Forte and 2021 Nissan Sentra offer stylish interior cabin environments that offer comfort and convenience to drivers in Calgary and throughout Canada. However, with a more cohesive design, focus on minimalisation, and better material quality, the 2021 Kia Forte provides an interior that is of higher quality and more impressive
