The 2020 Kia Niro entered the marketplace with a renewed sense of energy after a mid-cycle refresh. The award-winning crossover debuted exterior and interior enhancements that modernized its design on the outside and made it more streamlined and updated on the inside. With a new look and updates to bring it in line with other Kia models, the Kia Niro is a force to be reckoned with in the competition for most complete and unique electric vehicle.
The Kia Niro itself was an interesting vehicle before its redesign enhancements. It provides a driving range of up to 385 km with its combined engine and electric motor working together. At low speeds, it can operate entirely in EV (electric vehicle) mode, offering mileage of 2.2 L/100km city/highway combined. It offers up to 201 horsepower and 291 lb-ft of torque, which is surprisingly peppy for an electric hybrid. In addition, you won't have to wait all day to recharge the Niro--you can realize an 80% charge in as fast as 54 minutes.
But while an electric vehicle is interesting, it isn't enough to draw buyers in on its own. The 2020 Kia Niro HEV and PHEV know that, and that's why the mid-cycle refresh added eye-catching and captivating features to keep up with the competition. The exterior enhancements have upped the uniqueness on the Niro to a level not seen on many vehicles. The changes include available LED highlights and fog lamps on some models, as well as LED daytime running lights. The grille was updated to a diamond-pattern while the LED daytime running lights were modified to a dual chevron shape. On the back of the vehicle, the rear faux skid plate is wide and more pronounced than the previous model year, and the rear LED combination lights were also updated to a more technological appearance. In addition, both the 16-inch and 18-inch alloy wheels offer new designs for a more stylish and fun look as you drive.
The redesigned Niro also offers a more streamlined interior, updating its 7-inch instrument cluster and 8-inch touchscreen display with improved graphics. You can also opt for the optional navigation package that features a 10.25-inch screen paired with a Harman/Kardon premium audio system. All the technology operates on the famously easy-to-use Kia interface. The 2020 Kia Niro also introduces mood lighting with six different colors, as well as an optional electronic parking brake.
The interior and exterior are not the only things to get updates. The Niro enhanced its safety features by adding Lane Following & Lane Keeping Assist in addition to High Beam Assist. While previously available on other Kia models, 2020 is the first year that they have made their way to the Niro line up.
