2022 Kia Sorento PHEV and HEV

The Kia Sorento is a luxurious and stylish SUV that offers three rows of spacious seating and plenty of high-end amenities to help ensure that all occupants are able to stay safe and comfortable while riding in the vehicle. In addition to offering a high-performance gas-powered engine, the Sorento has a hybrid powertrain available as well. And this year, the impressive and popular SUV has decided to add a plug-in hybrid option to the lineup as well. Here is a look at all of the exciting features that you can expect to find on the 2022 Sorento HEV and PHEV.

High-Performance Powertrains

The Sorento HEV and PHEV both come standard with a 1.6-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder engine that is paired to a 6-speed automatic transmission. On the hybrid model, the engine works in combination with an electric motor that is powered by a 44-kWh battery pack and is able to deliver a combined 227 horsepower. The HEV option has an impressive fuel economy rating and gets an impressive 6.4 L/100km in the city and 7.0L/100km on the highway. 

The plug-in hybrid models use a 66.9-kWh electric motor to produce a combined 261 horsepower. With this available system, the Sorento gets an estimated all-electric driving range of around 51 km. The PHEV also gets an estimated 2.8 L/100 km in the city and 3.2 L/100 km on the highway.

Exterior Design

The Sorento has a striking and distinctive exterior design. The body is wrapped in sleek lines and muscular curves to help give it a sophisticated and sporty appearance. The front of the vehicle features a unique grille design that has the headlights and daytime running lamps seamlessly integrated into it. The available 19-inch machine-finished alloy wheels and the standard rear spoiler help to round out the stunning and athletic look.

Interior Comfort

The Sorento HEV and the PHEV both feature a luxurious and spacious interior. The cabin comes standard with three rows of seats, with captain's chairs in the first two rows, and can comfortably seat up to six people. 

The seats come standard with soft cloth upholstery, but synthetic leather seats are available. There is also a wide range of high-end features, which include standard leather-wrapped and heated steering wheel, standard heated front seats, available heated second-row seats, and available air-cooled seating.

Technology Features

The Sorento HEV and PHEV come standard with an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment display, but a larger 10.25-inch infotainment display is available. Both displays come standard with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Bluetooth connectivity options. The larger display adds a built-in navigation system to the mix.

There is also a standard six-speaker audio system, but a Bose premium audio system is available.  

A wireless charging pad also comes standard. And there are several 12V power outlets located throughout the cabin to help ensure that everyone is able to keep their smartphone and other mobile devices charged.

The Sorento comes with a wide range of standard safety features. Some of the safety features that you can find in the HEV and PHEV models include:
