2022 Kia Niro EV

Kia has been known to produce some of the most fuel-efficient vehicles on the market. It has taken its green initiative one step further by creating and adding electronic versions of its cars on the market.

The Niro is one such vehicle that has gotten the green touch with a hybrid version and a full-electric model, the 2022 Kia Niro EV. The dapper-looking subcompact crossover stands out among its rivals on the market, also proving that electric cars don’t have to look dull.

What’s in the 2022 Model?

The first significant change you will see in the 2022 Niro EV is the newly designed Kia badge which looks futuristic and befitting an electric vehicle.

Some other minor changes have been made to the 2022 model. The first is the infotainment display that has replaced the 8-inch screen with a 10.3-inch one that comes standard on all the Niro EV model range.

This also comes with built-in navigation, a SiriusXM satellite radio, and a Harman/Kardon audio system.

You can also add a cold-weather package to the Base EX model. The package includes a heated steering wheel, heated battery, and a heat pump that provides a more efficient way of heating the car’s interior. It also improves your driving range in cold weather.

Engine and Performance

The 64 kW single electric motor that powers the Niro EV generates 201 hp and 291 lb-ft torque. It’s a front-wheel drive with a one-speed direct-drive transmission that helps it achieve 0 to 100 km/h in 6.2 seconds—faster than its rivals.

The Niro EV has a fantastic regenerative braking system that rewards you for braking. This system collects energy every time you brake, which is then used to recharge the battery effectively, giving you more range each time you brake.

The Niro EV’s battery gives you a driving range of 385 km before you need to plug in and recharge. With a 100 kW level 3 DC fast charger, you can get the lithium-ion polymer battery from zero to 80% charge in 54 minutes.

Interior and Connectivity

Electric front seats and heating for the front seats come as a standard feature in the Niro EV’s base model. Additionally, you can get a seven-inch driver display.

The EX+ and SX Touring come with added features: a sunroof, ventilated front seats, and a wireless phone charger.

Kia’s Niro EV is packed with new technology, and is always trying to maximize efficiency. It also has an intuitive two-zone climate control system that allows you to save on power by turning off the climate control on the passenger side when you’re alone.

The infotainment system comes with Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, and Andriod Auto. Kia has also added a remote control feature that lets you monitor your battery levels and control some of the car’s features using your smartphone.

Safety Features

Kai doesn’t compromise on your safety as all vehicles come with standard forward-collision warning and automated emergency braking.

Lastly, it has a blind spot detection system that uses radar and a lane departure warning system.
