2018 Kia Rio

The all-new redesigned 2018 Kia Rio made a stunning arrival on the Canadian automotive scene this past fall, and it's not hard to see why. This is the Kia Rio Calgary drivers were waiting for. It updates Kia's best-selling model worldwide with brand new styling, new technology, and an amazing level of equipment and built-in fun for such an affordable car. So come on down to our showroom today and check out the all-new Kia Rio for sale at South Trail Kia.

Sedan or Hatchback--Your Choice

For 2018, the Kia Rio is available as either a handsome four-door sedan or a truly snazzy five-door hatchback. In either configuration, the Rio's attractively sculpted new sheet metal wraps itself around a larger and substantially stiffer chassis for better handling and a more luxurious ride. The grille, daytime running lights, taillights and overall body proportions are strikingly reminiscent of larger models in Kia's line-up, like the Optima. With the new Rio, small can be stylish.

Features and Technology

We mentioned the new Rio's amazing level of equipment. For Canadian models, Kia pulled out all the stops. Starting at only $14,795 for the sedan (and $14,995 for the hatchback), you'll get the following features standard on all trim levels:

• Heated leather steering wheel • Leather gear shift knob • Rear-view camera • Heated front seats
• Power windows and door locks

A word about those heated front seats: they're computer controlled and programmed to gradually lower the heat level as the interior of the car warms up. No more realizing that you're sitting in the "hot seat" part way through your commute!

These creature comforts combine with the Rio's mechanical bits for a truly compelling driving experience. Check out these specs:

• 1.6 litre, 16-valve, dual-cam all-aluminum GDI 4-cylinder engine with Variable Valve Timing
• 130 hp at 6,300 RPM, best in the subcompact class
• 119 lb-ft of torque, also best in class
• 6-speed manual transmission (6-speed automatic optional)

Safety Features

Kia has always believed in engineering safety into every one of its cars. The 2018 Kia Rio includes the following safety equipment, all as standard equipment:

• Dual front airbags
• Dual side-mounted front impact airbags
• Dual side curtain airbags
• 4-wheel anti-lock brakes (ABS)
• Electronic stability control (ESC)
• Vehicle stability management
• Brake assist system
• Hill assist control
• Electronic brake force distribution
• Rear-view camera

Additionally, the Rio has an optional autonomous emergency braking (AEB) system that can bring the Rio to a complete stop from as much as 80 km/h if it detects an obstacle. If a collision is unavoidable, the AEB system can mitigate the force of the crash.

Intelligence

Another extraordinary feature for the subcompact class is Kia's UVO Intelligence, available from the mid-level Rio EX model on up. UVO Intelligence is Kia's brand new telematics system, offering remote door locks, vehicle diagnostics, connectivity with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and keyless entry with push-button starting.

Fuel Economy

With Gasoline Direct Injection (GDI) and Kia's Variable Intake System, the Rio's engine balances horsepower and fuel efficiency. City mileage is 8.3 L/100 km (8.5 for automatic-equipped models), and highway mileage is 6.4 L/100 km for all models.
