MotorTrend Impressed by 2018 Kia Stinger GT Performance at Nurburgring

Whether it’s a sport sedan, hot hatch, or performance coupe, all enthusiast-approved models cut their teeth on Germany’s fabled Nurburgring. Such was the case with the all-new 2018 Kia Stinger GT--the brand’s first-ever performance car. Although it may seem out of place for a brand that made its name with party rocking hamsters, the enthusiasts at MotorTrend give it two thumbs way, way up.

In spite of some family resemblance to the Optima, the Stinger GT is its own beast. The test car MotorTrend drove packed the top-shelf 3.3-liter twin-turbo V6 with 365 hp and 376 lb-ft of torque. What was more, the Stinger GT boasted the kind of solid feel and composed performance one usually associates with luxury sedans—no small feat. There was praise to be found in every corner of the review, from the exemplary power steering to the planted feel of the car’s wheels on the pavement. Citing sport sedans as a new market for the brand, MotorTrend went as far to call it a success.

If that isn’t a vote of confidence for an all-new model, we don’t know what is. To learn more about the forthcoming Stinger GT, drop our Kia dealership in Calgary, AB a line.
